Boat instruments repaired at board level

One dead display shouldn't mean replacing the whole network. DXDT repairs leisure-marine electronics component by component: instruments, autopilots, chartplotters and the connections between them.

What I repair

  • Instruments Raymarine ST40, ST50, ST60 and ST60+, i50, i60 and i70 displays, and Tacktick wireless.
  • Autopilots Tiller pilots, control heads and course computers.
  • Chartplotters and displays Power supplies, backlights, keypads and connectors.
  • Network faults Units that drop off SeaTalk, SeaTalkNG or NMEA 2000, or pull the bus down.

Typical faults are water ingress and corrosion, failed power supplies, dim or dead backlights, faded screens and worn keys.

Other makes, such as B&G, Simrad, Garmin and NASA Marine: ask, and I'll say plainly whether I can help. I don't take VHF or AIS radios yet.

How it works

  1. Email the make, model and what it's doing, with a photo if you can.
  2. I'll tell you whether it looks repairable and roughly what it will cost, before you send anything.
  3. Post it to the workshop. The address comes with the reply.
  4. I repair it, reseal the board and test it on the bench, then post it back with a note of what was done.

Who you're dealing with

I'm Alex Hodge, an electronic engineer with twenty years of work across embedded hardware, firmware and systems. I sail a CSY 50 out of Brighton Marina.

The workshop is in London.
